Light of the Guiding Star
Light of the Guiding Star is an exhibition exploring how magical and supernatural ideas shape the search for a new home. Its participating artists and curator are immigrants living and making art outside their birth countries. Through artistic and spiritual rituals rooted in their pasts, they examine physical and cultural boundaries while pursuing freedom of expression. The exhibition considers ancestry, religion, justice, and politics through the work of a generation of artists born in the 1980s and 1990s.
The artists navigate between the spaces of their studios and a shared, multilayered subconscious, using magical thinking as a way to move through displacement, memory, and belonging.
