Exhibition Tours: A Nation of Artists
Explore the diverse stories of American art and identity on a docent-led tour of PAFA’s “A Nation of Artists” exhibition. The tour examines how American artists engaged with social conditions, international exchange, westward expansion, industrial growth, conflict, and innovation, with works spanning from the late 18th century through the modern era.
Installed throughout PAFA’s recently restored Historic Landmark Building, the exhibition presents more than 1,000 paintings, photographs, sculptures, decorative arts, and other works tracing American history from 1700 to the present. In coordination with the nation’s 250th anniversary, the presentation also includes more than 120 rarely exhibited works from the Middleton Family Collection, shown publicly for the first time across PAFA and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
