First Friday: Miki Yamanaka Trio & PAAFF
First Friday at the Barnes combines after-hours access to art with live jazz, cocktails, and light fare. The evening’s featured performer is Japanese-born pianist and bandleader Miki Yamanaka, joined by bassist Matt Penman and drummer Jimmy Macbride. Yamanaka, now based in New York, is known for her albums and residencies at Mezzrow and Smalls Jazz Club; Penman and Macbride also appear on her album *Breathe*, released in August.
Presented in partnership with the Philadelphia Asian American Film Foundation during its annual festival, the event includes access to the Barnes collection and the exhibition *Noguchi to Asawa: Designing Postwar America*.
