Dual Pathways
Dual Pathways is a multi-artist electronic, jam, rock, and dance-music event at Underground Arts, built around alternating sets across two stages. The lineup brings together 5AM Trio, Jimkata, Wax Future, Blendmode, and Patrick Richards for an evening that moves between live instrumental improvisation, indie rock, electronic production, funk, jazz, house, and bass music.
5AM Trio combines electronic sound design with live drumming and guitar, while Jimkata joins dance-oriented electronic textures with guitar-driven rock and storytelling. Wax Future contributes funky beats, analog synthesizers, and soulful guitar; Philadelphia’s Blendmode delivers an energetic mix of rock, electronica, and improvisation; and Patrick Richards supplies a DJ set drawing from house, minimal techno, and bass music.

5AM Trio: The trio blends dance music, funk, hip-hop, jazz, and electronic production with live improvisation. The group is built around Philly producer Sam Andrus, known as 5AM, alongside drummer Aaron Harel of ZONE Drums and guitarist Keith Wadsworth of Wax Future. Their performances combine the precision of club-oriented electronic music with the spontaneity of a live jam band. The group has appeared at events and venues including Red Rocks, Envision Festival, The Caverns, Elements, Summerdance, Resonate, and Secret Dreams, and has shared bills with artists such as Papadosio, CloZee, Opiuo, Lab Group, Break Science, Lotus, and Tiedye Ky. The trio also emphasizes sobriety, environmental stewardship, audience creativity, and tree-planting efforts supported by a portion of its show revenue.
Jimkata: Jimkata is a four-piece that merges rock-band performance with electronic music. Evan Friedell, Aaron Gorsch, and Packy Lunn—friends since middle school—form the group’s core, with Cooper Casterline adding bass. Their music pairs modern indie rock with Motown, singer-songwriter, and country influences, emphasizing strong melodies, danceable rhythms, guitar work, and relatable storytelling. The band’s latest studio album, *Running In Place*, was released in September 2024, and the group has continued touring throughout the United States behind it.
Wax Future: Wax Future is a duo combining funky electronic rhythms, warm analog synthesizers, and soulful guitar in a live-oriented production.
Blendmode: Blendmode is a Philadelphia jam quintet that combines rock, electronica, and improvisation to create a high-energy dance experience.
Patrick Richards: Patrick Richards is a Philadelphia DJ whose foundation is in house music, with sets that can also incorporate minimal techno and bass music. He began exploring club music on turntables at age 13 and draws from both classic and contemporary selections. His performances are intended to entertain while introducing listeners to new sounds, and he has supported numerous artists and bands in Philadelphia.
