Waveforms
Waveforms is an exhibition by artist Kate Stewart, curated by Erica Loustau. Stewart works across painting, drawing, textiles, collage, sculpture, public murals, and site-specific installations. The exhibition explores recurring visual and conceptual elements connected to Tantric traditions, neural activity during changing states of consciousness, and waveforms in sound studies.
Stewart’s practice emphasizes intuition, improvisation, and openness to unexpected discoveries. Her process develops through a rhythm of artistic “call and response,” in which decisions emerge spontaneously and time seems to recede. The work also reflects Louise Bourgeois’s idea of “feather-thoughts,” or unconscious ideas expressed through spontaneous drawing.
