Judah & The Lion
Judah & The Lion brings its folk-rock and pop-inflected sound to Union Transfer, with support from Breakfield and Band of Silver. The Nashville band centers on Judah Akers and Brian MacDonald, whose musical partnership began in college in 2011 and has grown into a close creative brotherhood.
The concert follows the release of the band’s sixth album, *I Am A Prism*. After exploring mental health and depression on *Pep Talks*, heartbreak and divorce on *Revival*, and grief on *The Process*, Judah & The Lion took time to reassess its purpose and direction. The new album reflects that process, balancing difficult experiences with hope and celebrating the full range of life.
Songs such as “Maybe The Best Is Now,” “Gravel Roads,” and “Miracle” represent the album’s movement toward renewal. “Maybe The Best Is Now” developed partly through audience participation at the band’s live shows, while “I Am A Prism” was inspired by a conversation between Judah and his older brother about the emotional weight of the band’s earlier music. The record was made with Grammy-nominated producer, songwriter, and composer Jeremy Lutito, who encouraged the group to embrace its full musical identity, from intimate folk passages to expansive rock and pop anthems.
