Open Botanical Art Studio
Open Botanical Art Studio is an in-person creative arts class for artists of all experience levels. The open studio format provides space to practice botanical art, explore different media and materials, work on pieces of any size, fill a sketchbook, or continue works in progress. Each session features new botanical materials as artistic references, along with instruction in a new art skill and individualized guidance.
Instructor Margaret Saylor is a botanical artist known for highly detailed, textural paintings and drawings of mushrooms, fungi, woodland plants, and other subjects from nature. She combines accurate illustration with careful attention to shape, form, and color. Saylor holds a BFA in Communications Design from Kutztown University and a certificate in Botanical Art and Illustration, with distinction, from the New York Botanical Garden. She teaches botanical art online and in person, belongs to the American Society of Botanical Artists and the Philadelphia Society of Botanical Illustrators, and has exhibited with both organizations. She has also served as editor and designer of The Botanical Artist since 2013.
