Idiocracy is a screening in the County Theater’s After Dark program. Mike Judge’s cult comedy imagines a future in which an ordinary man volunteers for a military hibernation experiment and awakens 500 years later, discovering that he has become the smartest person on Earth. The film’s absurd satire, memorable humor, and increasingly prophetic premise have helped it gain renewed relevance.

The 2006 film stars Luke Wilson as the unlikely future hero, with Maya Rudolph and Terry Crews, who delivers a standout performance as President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Camacho.
