Listening in!

Listening in! presents *Night Music: Italians in London*, a program of music and storytelling exploring the influence of Italian musicians on London’s musical life from the era of Handel through the Regency. The performance traces how Italian artists came to London to satisfy the city’s appetite for opera, pleasure-garden songs, music lessons, and guitar repertoire.

The program features ornamented arias, intimate chamber songs, and virtuosic solos by Tommaso Giordani and other Italian composers. The music was written for settings ranging from theaters and concert halls to fashionable drawing rooms, and the ensemble includes soprano, flute, violin, viola da gamba, and guitar.
