Bass Drum of Death
Bass Drum of Death headlines an R5 Productions concert at Johnny Brenda’s, bringing their gritty, garage-rock-influenced sound to Philadelphia. The band’s sixth album, *SIX*, represents a return to the stripped-down creative process of its earliest records, while adding a full-band approach to the writing and recording. Frontman John Barrett worked with guitarist Jim Barrett and drummer Ian Kirkpatrick at his Nashville home studio, with producer Jeremy Ferguson handling the mixing and later hosting the band at Battle Tapes studio. The resulting music draws on influences including The Stooges and ZZ Top.
Philadelphia punk band Chained Bliss opens the show with driving rhythms, sharp-edged melodies, and a sound informed by proto-punk and early U.S. hardcore. The group is preparing its second LP for release through Stupid Bag Records.
