Producers' Forum: Saving Etting Street by Dena Fisher and Amy Scott
Producers’ Forum presents *Saving Etting Street*, a 2025 documentary by Dena Fisher and Amy Scott about housing inequality, community reinvestment, and Black women building pathways to homeownership. Set in Baltimore, the film follows master carpenter Shelley Halstead as she trains three young Black women in carpentry, electrical work, and plumbing. With support from Black Women Build and encouragement from longtime neighborhood residents, they turn a row of abandoned homes into a community of first-time Black women homeowners. The program also includes *Elder Abuse in Housing*, a short work from Scribe’s Primary Source participatory journalism project.
Fisher, who co-directed, produced, and served as director of photography, is a Baltimore-born multimedia artist, licensed clinical social worker, and filmmaker whose work connects art, healing, and social justice. She is a two-time Addy Award recipient and a Saul Zaentz Innovation Fund fellow.
