Sensory Friendly Mornings welcomes autistic visitors, people with sensory sensitivities, and their families to explore the Philadelphia Museum of Art before regular public hours. Participants experience one museum area and take part in flexible, hands-on art activities in a supportive, low-sensory setting. The program takes place before this month’s Family Festival, and the quiet area remains available throughout the festival.

When: Sunday, November 1, 2026

Showtimes: 9:00–10:00 a.m.

Venue: Philadelphia Museum of Art, Main Building, Eli Kirk Price Room

Tickets: Free; advance registration is required. Visitors ages 18 and under are always free.

Activities: The program includes an early museum experience, open-ended art-making designed for varied ages and abilities, and opportunities to take breaks in a designated quiet zone.

Accessibility: A low-sensory quiet area is available as needed. Fidgets and noise-canceling headphones can be borrowed, and occupational therapy student volunteers from Thomas Jefferson University provide support.

Pre-visit preparation: Everyone who registers receives preparation materials, including a photo-illustrated Social Story.

Ages: Activities are designed to be flexible for all ages and abilities.

Note: The quiet zone will remain available for the entirety of the associated Family Festival.
