GIANT - The Play
GIANT follows a fictionalized confrontation with children’s author Roald Dahl in the summer of 1983, as his book *The Witches* nears publication and public outrage grows over an explicitly antisemitic article he has written. Set during one afternoon at Dahl’s family home, the play centers on a battle of wills and the choice between issuing a public apology or protecting his name and reputation.
The production stars John Lithgow as Dahl and explores the scandal that shook the author’s legacy. It previously had a sold-out West End run in London, where it won three Olivier Awards, including Best Play, before transferring to Broadway. The Broadway production received four Tony Award nominations, with Lithgow winning for Lead Actor in a Play.
