In Focus Photography Workshop: Creating Christmas
Learn the photojournalistic approach by documenting the behind-the-scenes creation of Longwood Gardens’ A Longwood Christmas. Led by Emmy Award-winning Philadelphia Inquirer photojournalist Monica Herndon, this blended online and onsite course explores storytelling through images as staff prepare the holiday displays, including the lighting, floral arrangements, horticultural work, people, and other details that bring the season to life.
The experience begins with an online lesson in photographic style and technique, followed by an onsite opportunity to photograph the Gardens before the Christmas installation opens to the public. Participants then reconvene online to review their work and continue developing their storytelling skills.
