We Get Requests

We Get Requests is an interactive live-music evening led by Philadelphia trumpeter and GRAMMY-nominated artist Josh Lawrence. Lawrence performs with a rotating trio of respected Philadelphia musicians, while special guests join the second set. Between sets, audience members can submit song requests in person or online, giving the band the opportunity to create a spontaneous performance around those selections.

Lawrence is a composer, bandleader, and educator who teaches at the University of the Arts and Drexel University. He has released recordings on Posi-Tone Records, performed for more than a decade with the Captain Black Big Band, and collaborated with artists including Seal, Erykah Badu, and Boyz II Men. The event highlights Philadelphia’s creative music community through a changing lineup, guest appearances, and direct audience participation.
