Love Me or Leave Me

Love Me or Leave Me is a 1955 MGM musical drama directed by Charles Vidor. The film follows nightclub singer Ruth Etting’s rise to fame in 1920s Chicago and her turbulent relationship with Martin “the Gimp” Snyder, a crude gangster who becomes her manager. Doris Day plays Etting in a notably dramatic performance opposite James Cagney, and the film includes more than 10 musical numbers, including “You Made Me Love You,” “Ten Cents a Dance,” and “Love Me or Leave Me.”
