We Can Use The Rain
We Can Use The Rain is a solo exhibition by fiber artist Larissa Ranbom, presented in The Delaware Contemporary’s ArtSource Gallery. The exhibition follows the changing life of plants across the seasons, from early spring redbuds and summer flowers to autumn milkweed and indoor-grown cacti in winter.
Ranbom’s embroidered works are based on photographs she made while walking through Wilmington. They depict flora and fungi found in cultivated gardens, greenhouses, neighborhood yards, parks, and neglected roadside spaces. Through detailed, freestyle embroidery, the exhibition considers how plants—and the communities that tend or surround them—grow, change, flourish, and fade. The work also reflects Ranbom’s interest in imperfection, modest subjects, slow handmade processes, and an improvisational approach to femininity.
