The Bul Bey

The Bul Bey brings a distinctly Philadelphia perspective to Johnny Brenda’s, pairing sharp, energetic rhymes with an optimistic and candid view of working-class life. His work extends beyond music into civic engagement and community programming, and he has helped present events featuring figures including Malcolm Gladwell, Francis Collins, Rick Steves, and Bill Clinton. He has also reached national audiences through a song placement on the Emmy-winning series *Abbott Elementary*.

The evening also features Philadelphia singer-songwriter and poet Carla Gamble, whose career began with a poetry album at age 13 and a Philadelphia Poet Laureate honor the following year, along with New York artist Gio Genesis. Genesis blends atmospheric production, soulful vocals, hard-hitting beats, and influences from multiple musical eras in a style he calls “Gio-Pop.”
